Learning to say No
Well if you think you are the only one here's someone to keep you company. meet "me" yea you read it right. I'm the maha example of this. i just cant seem to make myself say "sorry but i really cant" "no not now maybe later?" "can you please ask someone else?" well this trait of mine has led me to many a situation where i had to do something i really dint want to. imagine few days back this girl came up to me and told me know what i have mehendi on my palms i cant really wash my hair will you just shampoo it for me. for once i did wonder why she didn't ask her room-mates instead of approaching me... but before i could say no i simply shrugged and i spent rest of the morning washing her hair *making a face* (there is a hair controversy with her .. )
Then again one day this girl's roomie comes up to me when i was watching a movie.. "hey can you please help me wax my arms i cant do it on my own" and i was like "hmm sure i will.. " and she was... okay come over now then.. and i was like WTF! but i did go along with her...leaving my movie unfinished.. these two incidents really shook me... i mean what kind of a dufus was i?!.. and then i went on damage control...
From then on whoever asked me for some help i made it a point to say 'no', no matter what. so when this girl P asked me if she could use the Mac i was using to copy footage while i was editing.. i just said no... when M asked me if she could borrow my hard drive i definitely told her no.. but saying no did land me in some sort of a fix because when my professor asked me to fetch a book for her from the library i blatantly told her "no" !! but of course i managed to rectify my stand before she got pissed...
so the moral of the story is... Learn to say no but first see who the person is in front of you..unless you want to be kicked where it hurts the most! :)

Don't copy if you can't paste...
Laughter and applause...
The wife went: "Ah!" with shock and rage. Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out "....and I can't remember who she was!"
Moral of the story : Don't copy if you can't paste!

Point to Ponder
Think about this ... . 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.' ?Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.?
There comes a point in your life when you realize:?
I have been pretty pensive of late, the days are rolling by, the tension is mounting. it will soon be time to say goodbye. its a feeling of fear and anxiety, its excitement and determination as apprehension rules the roost. but when i chanced on this email, it struck a chord with me and made me feel better instantly, so i thought id share it with you. hope you guys liked it...

End Of An Era
one of the main high points was of course the slide shows that they put up. they were amazing, and the effort that these people put in was really commendable. cheers and hoots reigned during the slide show each of us were really touched and a little teary eyed too. i was there with Shubhankar sitting on a stair, wearing a saree that got me drenched in sweat, with the heat upped by just 2 AC's and soo many people; we sat squashed due to lack of space, silently talking while the show was on, and we were really counting our last 'official' moments together. the feelings that coursed through were diverse, a little nostalgic, a lot hopeful, and apprehension about my future. the tears did come. a lone tear trickled down as one of my favourite teachers, SC mam spoke about her experiences about all of us and it was one very emotional moment. talking to teachers, summing up our experiences with them, amidst proclamations by the rest, that will stay back to bug them some more, was one helluva tough time, i almost choked when i informed some of my teachers of my decision of not going back. but all in all i just couldn't wait to walk away from the crowd of known faces and to forget they ever existed. all in all i must say, that this farewell even though was an awesome experience its intensity lacked the ones i went through when i was in my 10th standard.
Now i feel a whole lot responsible about my life and the choices I'm about to make. and even though its a lot scary something in me tells me 'I'm ready!' my study leave has started and I'm like really busy with dispatching the last of the admission forms, making drafts etc, now all i need is to concentrate on my studies; to devote time between studying for my semesters and also for my entrance exams. yeah it will be tough i know but I'm prepared to struggle to get to my goals, for i know achieving my dreams with be worth all this toil and hardship. and that does not mean that I'm not going to blog mind you.. :)
come on now wish me luck!!
P.S- the pics haven't been transferred from the cam yet, some problem with that. but then i will put it up soon. sorry for the delay. for now these are some of my great memories of JU.
P.P.S- no more posts on college. promise!! :) even i have had enough.. im too giddy by now.. :)

Make your vote count
I so wanted to write a post on the upcoming elections and the fact that we must exercise our right to vote. but then being apolitical and politics illiterate I'm hardly the person to write it. all i feel right now is that we voters hardly have options from which to vote from. and its more of voting the lesser of the evils from the whole lot. that's hardly assuring isn't it? what amuses me and in turn disgusts me, is the mudslinging every party engages in just to promote themselves. there is no decorum or decency. moreover a new trend has made its presence felt, that is of flinging of the shoe towards the politicians, while it may just mirror the anger and sheer annoyance on the part of the common man, it however does not justify itself, for it was done in real bad taste. what is hilarious is the political manifestos... see them and tally them with the youth and the youth problems and you will have yet another reason not to vote even though the political parties are trying their best to woo the youth who constitute the majority of vote the bank. but hey does not mean you don't vote... do ahead and vote, for change.
check this link it is a video.. it was shot in my college with me and my friends... most of whom you will recognize! :) have fun watching the video and don't forget to vote.

Btw i feel a whole lot better about myself and confident too! the paranoia has somewhat subsided and i'm trying to derieve faith on myself and my capacities... i know i have just two ways in dealing with my current stress, one i can mop and let fear overpower me.. or i can come to terms with it, be confident and face it, giving my best. i choose it do the latter. and boy! it feels like heaven being in control of my life.. and thanks surely goes to this one person who has really turned me around... thanks Mayank... you have been a great friend to me.. *Hugs* :)
Did you know that sleeping is a great thing to occupy yourself with, specially when your exams are on? try it! :D :P

Tuned...
This song reminds me of my friend, Firefly and the beaches of Vizaq and the memories flood in. We used to be the bestest friends from the first day of college, but then due to our silly and immature ways we had fallen apart. but because of our departmental trip to Vizaq, we came together as organizers. from talking in monosyllables,we started conversing properly. even amidst friends, we were the only two who was quite during a lively conversation gazing at each other; maybe we were recalling those early days of college, where we were inseparable. we got talking over this song first, and then during the entire trip we would both share the ipod listening to this song. my fondest of memory with this song and Firefly is the one at the beach when all our differences faded into oblivion as our lost friendship resurfaced...
One evening we had gone out to the beach, our friends all sat in a group chatting as the song was played in the loudspeaker in some one's phone. i got up to walk along the beach alone, with the waves breaking at my feet. looking back i saw a happy set of friends and a silent pair of eyes following my every move, almost hidden in the dark. at that time i thought, how bad a fate our friendship would have, if we were to walk out of college without clearing out our differences, if only we could still have another chance at friendship.. a lone tear coursed down...
i felt someone standing right beside me and i turned to look, it was him, seeing me wipe off the tear he had come to talk to me. this was the first proper conversation we had in almost a year. soon we got talking and in moments our disagreement was sorted and long forgotten. when i dared to remove my eyes from the beach and look at him, i saw that tears were streaming down his face too. i knew then, that he had missed me too all those months when we barely recognized each others existence, that he valued me as much as i valued him.

Thus the song reminds me of this day when i found my friend back. that day i had been the happiest ever, i felt as if a huge burden had shifted off my heart, i felt free and fearless, i knew i had my friend back and i knew that nothing could stop me then.. sigh! it was one of the best feelings ever...
If this wasn't reason enough. Every time i hear this song the one person i can think of is Samik. maybe because this song is still his ring tone, that he had set because i loved it. If i really want to mean the lyrics for someone, it would be Samik, who is now indispensable to me and my life. this song reminds me of the beach, the waves, friends, Firefly and of course Samik...
So tell me... what is the one song that sets your pulse racing? or do you think being so attached to a song is sheer madness??

Earth Hour and its utility

Since today is the Earth Hour day from 8.30-9.30pm and the lights have to be out, i take it that you are all going to comply, you have to, its about protecting our environment, and yes even an hour of power saving helps. so while you do humanity a favor here are 5 things you can do to kill time ...

4~why not take a power nap?one feels refreshed after a nap.. really helps trust me..
or if you are in a relationship, sneak in those kisses now and then,
mind you don't blame me if you get caught. :)
5~ if you have mosquitoes at your place learn to kill them in one whack!!, it can be fun!! or you could think....

5 Benifits of your boy friend working night shifts!

- SLEEP- yes i will get a good 8 hours of sleep. why? well basically i wake up early by say 7 latest. then i have hordes of chores to do, tuition's and then college, and so on and so forth. in my busy schedule which involves mostly running from one point to another, using my brains sitting in the most analytical and logical classes, then returning home to study for the next day. then there is blogging.. i ll come to that later. you can imagine that by 11pm i am slowly nearing absolute breakdown. do i sleep then? no i have boy friend duty after all! i stay up till 2 to talk to the moron because after a long day he doesn't feel like sleeping and the sweet, self sacrificing idiot that i am, i am there without thinking of the millions of things that awaits me the next morning. so while i struggle with less sleep and fatigue, my stupid moron; Samik sleeps his full quota of sleep and calls me just when my prof walks into the class room. so now at least i get to sleep more. phew!
- BLOG- i have Internet from 8pm-8am as most know.. i know i know it sucks but works fine for me :) so after studying i manage to be online after 9, then replying to mails etc and just when i sit for blogging, yes the moron puts up an appearance. and he gets irritated because i can multitask, chat blog and talk to him that is. and he cribs for attention. so most often i have to abandon my friends and the beautiful conversations I'm invariably having just to attend to the cry baby. so now you know why i haven't been attentive and been commenting frequently.. marooo usse aur maroo... not me.. but Samik :D :P
- STUDIES- i really have a terrible time studying because every time i sit to study, i get his call as he is on a break. not that i don't love it, i do. but leaving aside whatever I'm studying i attend his call. sometimes it hinders if I'm teaching my student or I'm commuting back home. so at least on that front i get some respite :)
- PEACE & QUITE- now i get to attend my classes without having to sms in between. or even try and sneak in calls here and there in between two classes. things will be a lot calm that way.
- REVENGE- most importantly i ll be able to take revenge from Samik for belittling my hectic schedules. not just that, he doesn't give me attention, and takes things for granted, and has huge expectations and doesn't appreciate me for the things i do for him or that fact that i go out of my way to adjust and accommodate him. now since he will have the day time all to himself with nothing much to do. i ll be the busy bee not giving him any attention at all.. whoohoo what fun!!
PS- people i need a new template... please help :)

Knock Knock!!
Are you listening?!
God!! Hello..............
Uff!! really!! this is height!
Really where the hell are you?
What? busy? yet again?
Can't you spare a moment for me?
here now see... you can find time if you want to,
now don't play a spoil port... yea, i know you are there, listening...
Yes, yes, I'm here to crib again and to say sorry.for what?well remember the last time i reached out to you? well I'm sorry. i didn't know what i was saying then. if i thought i was having a bad time then, then now,is the worst of the lot. now if you heard what had i had said the last time, you should have acted on it.but there, but i guess your government in heaven are malfunctioning again because my plight hasn't been fixed yet! yes yes you heard it right. it hasn't! do wake up! enough now! I'm tired and extremely angry. you don't want me to silly childish stuff... now do you?Na i guess not.so speed up your delivery and respite systems and clear my hurdles. its really high time now!see it wont be really good if i get down to business you see, can get ugly. so id rather try the good way. but if you are hell bent on throwing one hurdle after another, and that too at people like me,really there are major cause for concern. so if you really want to be in my good books, flex your muscles, try some tricks and get things done. then na people will say..ailaah! Bhagwaan kya cheez hai re..uske ghar mein der hai par andher nahi [there may be delays but never denials]chal chal enough of nautanki..get to business and resolve my problems... or else...

Hi!!
So whats up with me? well the temperature sure is. i have caught a bad case of cold and have high fever. with my niece gone on Friday, i guess i had a bit of 'i-miss-my-niece-' syndrome too. and surely sitting in an AC auditorium for 4 and a half hours straight didn't quite help, on top of it, i returned home with high fever.
Well actually i had gone for our college campus-ing for GOOGLE. Yup you heard it right. and believe me the presentation they put up of life at Google, left me drooling and wanting and wishing i could be a apart of it. it is every media/advertising aspirants dream come true. with benefits like, pick and drop, insurance, free food and transport and phone connection, spas and massages etc. :P okay the work ambiance is to die for. okay don't jump the gun! i just sat for the written interview, they will get back to us in 3-4 weeks, then then there are 4 rounds of interviews and ultimately the selection. i just hope, wish and pray that i get in. please pray for me na..pretty polly please!!! :D :P
Just when i decided to be less of the lazy bones that i have evolved into, all my noble plans are totally wasted. our college fest:Sanskriti began from today. everyone is almost everywhere, rehearsals for fashion show dance, poetry writing etc.. and i feel totally a misfit because these things don't excite me anymore. classes too aren't on. festive ambiance reigns. Bangla rock band FOSSILS, whose lead singer Rupam sang, the song from the movie Jannat [with Emraan Hashmi] this guy has some fan base truly. when there is a live performance by Fossils, the crowd sings with him, and the crowd has a distinct voice of its own, the people are in a trance like state, they are really good. then Cassini's Division too is turning up, they too are a local band but of great repute. so this week promises to end in some fun, frolic and laughter, but you think my plans of having fun is going to be unmarred?Never! i have a test on Friday, just before the fest began on its last day!sigh! no matter what have to study for that too.. :) i guess our teachers are big patrons of 'All play and no work makes Jack a dull boy!'
Sorry people if i haven't been really frequent on your blog. my sincere apologies. I'm just bed ridden with cold and fever. pardon me. will be back visiting all your blogs in no time. till then stay happy and spread the cheer! :)
P.S- a big thank you to Anwesa, Yams [Yamini], and my twin Nikhil, for being absolute sweethearts, for their kindess and concern, they keep scolding me and ordering me to get to bed. im really touched people.thanks a ton for being such great friends!

Virgo Spirit

Virgo is the only zodiacal sign represented by a female. It is sometimes thought of as a potentially creative girl, delicately lovely; sometimes as a somewhat older woman, intelligent but rather pedantic and spinsterish. The latter impression is sometimes confirmed by the Virgoan preciseness, refinement, fastidious love of cleanliness, hygiene and good order, conventionality and aristocratic attitude of reserve. They are usually observant, shrewd, critically inclined, judicious, patient, practical supporters of the status quo, and tend toward conservatism in all departments of life. On the surface they are emotionally cold, and sometimes this goes deeper, for their habit of suppressing their natural kindness may in the end cause it to atrophy, with the result that they shrink from committing themselves to friendship, make few relationships, and those they do make they are careful to keep superficial.
But the outward lack of feeling may, in some individuals born under this sign, conceal too much emotion, to which they are afraid of giving way because they do not trust others, nor do they have confidence in themselves and their judgments. This is because they are conscious of certain shortcomings in themselves of worldliness, of practicality, of sophistication and of outgoingness. So they bring the art of self concealment to a high pitch, hiding their apprehensiveness about themselves and their often considerable sympathy with other people under a mantle of matter-of-factness and undemonstrative, quiet reserve. They are still waters that run deep. Yet in their unassuming, outwardly cheerful and agreeable fashion, they can be sensible, discreet, well spoken, wise and witty, with a good understanding of other people's problems which they can tackle with a practicality not always evident in their own personal relationships.
Both sexes have considerable charm and dignity, which make some male Virgoans appear effeminate when they are not. In marriage they can be genuinely affectionate, making good spouses and parents, but their love making is a perfection of technique rather than the expression of desire, and they must be careful not to mate with a partner whose sex drive requires a passion they cannot match.
They are intellectually inquiring, methodical and logical, studious and teachable. They combine mental ingenuity with the ability to produce a clear analysis of the most complicated problems. They have an excellent eye for detail but they may be so meticulous that they neglect larger issues. Also, although they are realists, they may slow down projects by being too exact.
They are practical with their hands, good technicians and have genuine inventive talents, Thoroughness, hard work and conscientiousness are their hallmarks, and they are such perfectionists that, if things go wrong, they are easily discouraged. Because of their ability to see every angle of a many-sided question, they are unhappy with abstract theorizing. Appreciating the many different points of view as they do, they find philosophical concepts difficult, and they vacillate and have no confidence in any conclusions at which they arrive.
Their self distrust is something they project on to other people and tends to make them exacting employers, though in the demands they make on those under them they temper this attitude with justice. They have potential abilities in the arts, sciences and languages. Language especially they use correctly, clearly, consciously and formally, as grammarians and etymologists rather than for literary interests, yet they are likely to have a good memory for apt quotations. Although they are well suited for careers in machine drawing, surveying and similar occupations, they are better fitted for a job in a library or office than a workshop.
Their minds are such that they need the stimulus of practical problems to be solved rather than the mere routine or working to set specifications that need no thought. They are careful with money and their interest in statistics makes them excellent bookkeepers and accountants. They also make good editors, physicists and analytical chemists. They may also find success as welfare workers, ministering to those less fortunate than themselves. They can be doctors, nurses, psychologists, teachers, confidential secretaries, technologists, inspectors, musicians, critics, public speakers and writers especially of reference works such as dictionaries and encyclopedias. Both sexes have a deep interest in history, a feature recognized by astrological authorities for at least two hundred years. If they go in for a business career their shrewdness and analytical ingenuity could tempt them into dishonesty, though they usually have enough moral sense to resist temptation. Female Virgoans may find a career in fashion, for they have a flair for dress, in which they can be trend setters. In any profession they choose the natives of this sign readily assimilate new ideas, but always with caution, conserving what they consider worth keeping from the past. They love country life but are unlikely to make good farmers, unless they can contrive to carry out their work without outraging their sense of hygiene and cleanliness.
Their faults, as is usual with all zodiacal types, are the extremes of their virtues. Fastidious reticence and modesty become old-maidenishness and persnickety; balanced criticism becomes carping and nagging; and concern for detail becomes overspecialization. Virgoans are liable to indecision in wider issues and this can become chronic, turning molehills of minor difficulties into Himalayas of crisis. Their prudence can become guile and their carefulness, turned in on themselves, can produce worriers and hypochondriacs.

MTV Roadies

I'm not an ardent fan of roadies but then i do watch it now and then. it is a show that is a good pastime, something that you can always tune to when you have nothing else to do. roadies audition or for that matter almost every reality show audition really bores and tires me to no end! but this time whatever little i saw of roadies changed my perception.
Raghu whom i used to think was all crass, with no sense of language or manner was the one who surprised me the most. in fact my impression of him has changed manifolds. now when i see the roadies auditions and i see perfect namunas coming to audition, i really pity Raghu for having to endure such samples. its the peoples mind and mentality that is the most shocking, there was this one guy who says, if he finds out that his girl was cheating on him, then he would marry her and in front of her have s** with another girl, just to mentally torture her, Raghu and his brother Rajiv was like furious as hell!! truly said one who doesn't respect a woman, or for that doesnt understand anything but himself is not worth a second glance!
This is just one example, there are many like this. somehow now i feel Raghu and Rajiv are just doing all those wannabe roadie aspirants a huge favor curing them of their mental sickness by counseling them, helping them help themselves, to recognize their faults and flaws, and all that pshychiatric help for free. i feel all those who made or didn't make it to the 20 roadies are very fortunate for no matter what they have gone through one of the greatest task masters which will ultimately benefit them. this time the best was, that Raghu and Rajiv both were a bit more humane, and more approachable and it was very entertaining to see them taking the class of those who were dumber than the dumbest. :P

Happy Birthdays!!
Well today is Dad and Sir's [you know who? yeah my favorite prof's] birthday and of course Hrithik Roshan's birthday too...
We had a surprise birthday party at sir's place today.where we had a gala time.the food and snacks was amazing!sir took special time out to just to talk to Samik, so that he didn't feel left out, as he was the only one not from our college or department. i was touched to say the least. moreover other members of the faculty were there too and mam [sir's wife] and sir went out of their way to make samik comfortable and introduced him to other members of my faculty as their friends and we had a great adda session, :D i was feeling a whole lot special not only because it was my favourite prof's birthday but to our batch he is more of a friend than anything else. the kind of relationship we share is really amazing, and for them to accept samik as my extension of me, is really a big deal for me, as I'm really a very shy person when it comes to being public with my relationship with my seniors from college or my elders. Truly Sir rocks and mam is damn nice too..
Here is a very special birthday wish to Mom, who has her birthday tomorrow.
